How it began.

The gap.

The Swiss Laundry started from a simple observation: Kolkata, a city with one of the most sophisticated textile cultures in India, could not find European quality and service standards in the laundry and dry cleaning sector. The founders of Tresnupog Incover Services Pvt. Limited saw that gap and decided to fill it.

On 7 October 2013, operations began in Kolkata. In 2019, the facility moved to its current address — P-4 Kasba Industrial Estate, Phase III, E.M. Bypass (East), Kolkata 700107 — where it has been since.

The years that tested us.

Two periods stand out. In 2016, demonetisation was announced overnight. Spending stopped. The business had to find a way to keep going with dramatically reduced revenue and no certainty about when it would recover.

Then came 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic shut the city down. Travelling was not possible for much of the team. The answer was to stay — team members lived at the facility during the lockdown periods to keep operations going. Pay cuts were taken. Nobody walked away.

The brand came through both. Not because of any single decision, but because of a team that treated the place as their own.

December 2018 — a new chapter.

In December 2018, the company and the brand were acquired by new ownership. The company was renamed Swiss Laundry Private Limited. The address stayed the same. The mission stayed the same.

The continuity of the team through that transition was what made it work. People who had been part of building the brand from before operations even began stayed on, carrying the institutional knowledge and the culture that had made the first five years what they were.

And then there is Chotusingh.

Chotusingh is a beloved member of the Swiss Laundry family. He has been with the team since the early days and has become an unofficial symbol of the care and warmth that runs through everything the brand does. As the team says — some members of the family never clock out.
