One principle underpins everything on this page. Understand it and every other decision becomes straightforward.
A bridal lehenga, sherwani, or silk saree is not a garment you can replace if something goes wrong. The embroidery, the zari work, the handcrafted detail — none of it can be undone if a home treatment strips the colour, crushes the embellishment, or shrinks the silk. When in doubt, always choose professional care over home treatment.
Pre-wear conditioning, steam pressing, and any pre-treatment for storage creases. The right preparation means your outfit looks its best on the day.
If something happens on the day, do as little as possible. Blot, do not rub. Remove surface debris. Do not apply water to embroidered or embellished areas. Get it to us as soon as the wedding is over.
Bring the garment to us within 48 hours. The longer stains sit on silk and zari, the harder — and sometimes impossible — the cleaning becomes.

Before the Wedding
Most bridal outfits arrive from storage or the boutique with creases, dust, or slight odour from extended packaging. Pre-wedding preparation makes a significant difference.
Book a pre-wedding visit at least 2 weeks before the date. This gives us time to steam, press, and return the garment with adequate buffer before the day. Last-minute requests cannot always be accommodated.
Do not attempt to iron bridal wear at home. Steam from a domestic iron directly on embroidered fabric can permanently damage thread work, flatten zari, and leave water marks on silk.
Air the garment before wearing. Remove from garment bags 24–48 hours before the ceremony. Allow to hang in a cool, shaded space to release storage odour naturally.
Check thoroughly before the event. Examine embroidery, hooks, zips, and hem. Any loose threads or minor repairs should be attended to before the day, not after.
We use professional steaming equipment that releases fabric tension and revives embroidery without direct contact. It cannot be replicated with a domestic iron or handheld steamer.

The Five Garments — Specific Care
Each garment type has different fabric, construction, and embellishment needs. Here is what you need to know for each one.

Day-of Emergency Care
Something gets on the outfit on the day. It happens. Here is what to do — and more importantly, what not to do.
The instinct is to treat the stain immediately. On embroidered bridal fabric, that instinct is usually wrong. Water on zari causes tarnishing. Rubbing on embroidery causes thread damage. The best outcome almost always comes from doing the minimum on the day and getting the garment to us immediately after.
Remove any surface debris immediately — food, petals, solids — by lifting gently. Do not rub.
Blot any liquid with a clean white cloth from the outer edge inward. Do not rub, scrub, or apply pressure.
Do not apply water to embroidered, zari, or embellished areas. Water on metallic thread causes immediate tarnishing.
If the stain is on plain fabric (lining, petticoat, unembellished areas) — a small amount of cold water blotted gently may help.
Cover the area loosely with a clean cloth to protect it. Do not wrap tightly — this can set the stain.
Get the garment to us within 24–48 hours. Tell us exactly what the stain is and what, if anything, you applied.
Do not use stain remover pens, bleach, or DIY remedies on bridal fabric. Stain pens contain solvents that react unpredictably with embroidered thread and metallic work. What removes a stain from cotton will often destroy silk or zari permanently.
Speed matters — but only for getting it to us, not for home treatment. A fresh stain taken to us within 48 hours has an excellent prognosis. The same stain treated incorrectly at home and then brought to us has a much worse one.
Something happened on the day. Do not treat it at home. WhatsApp us a photo, tell us what it is, and get the garment to us as soon as the wedding is over. We will take it from there.
After the Wedding — Cleaning
Within 48 hours. This is the most important window. Stains that are invisible on the day become visible as they oxidise and react with the fabric over weeks. Perspiration causes silk to degrade over time.
Bring the garment to us within 48 hours of the wedding. Do not leave it in a bag, do not hang it in a wardrobe, do not wait until you have time to deal with it. The cleaning process at this stage is significantly more effective.
Champagne, clear beverages, and body oils leave no visible stain on the day. Over months, they oxidise and turn brown — permanently. If the garment was worn at a wedding, it needs professional cleaning regardless of whether you can see a stain.
Tell us everything when you bring the garment. What food and drink was present. What cosmetics you wore. Whether anyone applied perfume directly to the fabric. Whether any home treatment was attempted. The more we know, the better the outcome.
Do not attempt home dry cleaning products. Home dry cleaning kits are not appropriate for embroidered, embellished, or structured bridal garments. The solvent and agitation cause damage to thread work and embellishments.

Long-term Storage — Preserving for Decades
A properly stored bridal outfit can be passed down across generations. A poorly stored one can be destroyed within years. The difference is preparation, materials, and environment.
Body oils, perspiration, and even invisible food residue cause silk and embroidery to degrade over time. They also attract moths, which destroy the fabric from within. A garment stored without cleaning will be permanently damaged within two to three years.
Storage checklist
Avoid vacuum storage bags. The compression damages embroidery, flattens embellishments, and stresses the fabric structure. Bridal garments need space and air circulation.
Kolkata humidity requires extra care. The monsoon months bring moisture that can cause mildew even in stored garments. A moisture absorber placed near (not touching) the garment bag helps. Check every month during monsoon.
